Troy Polamalu, Futurized & Legolized

I know nothing about American football. Except it’s not a real football. Real football is soccer. Except we do not call it soccer. We call it football. Got that?

So if you are like me, you probably never heard of Troy Polamalu. He’s something called “Strong Safety” and seem to be quite famous. Peter Morris built a futuristic sports mecha that looks like Mr. Polamalu:

Hen’s Teeth: Turkey

Name: Turkey Complete AssemblyLego Turkey
Color:  Dark Orange, Earth Orange
Appeared:

  • Earth Orange - 1997,
  • Dark Orange - 2009

Produced until:

  • Earth Orange - 1999
  • Dark Orange - ?

Catalogs: Bricklink, Peeron

How do you think, what is more expensive? A read roasted turkey or it’s plastic miniature that you can hide in your palm? It turns out that the latter. Plastic LEGO turkey is one of the most expensive rare bricks. If appeared for the first time in few Scala sets in EarthOrange and it;s production was stopped 10 years ago. Because of that, turkey’s prices were slowly growing as the years passed.

Since the first photos of new 10193 set were out in late 2008, turkey dealers might get a bit nervous. Reintroducing the set with the turkey might end the yers of prosperity. Fortunatly for them, new piece is in different, darker shade of orange and the prices of old turkeys didn’t move a bit. We can expect that light ones will keep the high price, but the darker ones will become cheaper when more copies of the set are available on the market.

OK, so let’s go to some creations now. Bluemoose used the turkey in his vignette, showing how it’s assembled - from two drumsticks and a torso:

MisaQa plays with the concept of turkey serving turkey:

And Sir Nadroj explains why the new turkey is darker. It’s just the holiday tan :)

I love the way nnenn is presenting his fighters, especially these all-angles mosaics:

Space Action Hero In Deep Trouble

Buster Builder presents his third installment in Space Action Hero series. After crashing his swoosher on alien planet (twice), the hero is now in deeper trouble - wrestling with mysterious Sleething Mass from Slorox 5:

Seething Mass of Slorox 5

As we did not featured previous adventures of Space Action Hero, it is a good opportunity to have them all at Klocki. Here’s the first crash:

And here’s the second. This guy does not have an easy life, does he?

ANOTHER UPDATE: Wherever You Go, Take Klocki With You

Addicted to Klocki? Worry no more. You can now browse our site while commuting, hiking, attending boring business meeting or wherever you take your mobile phone with you.

Just point your mobile browser to www.e-klocki.com and you will be served with the light, mobile-friendly version of the site.

Klocki go mobile

Watch out, though, as our mobile site does not scale down images! Depending on your plan, constant browsing might be costly in some cases. We will work further on finding the solution.

UPDATE: One of the readers, Kuba (thanks!), contacted us and said that if you use the good mobile browser, like Opera Mini, images will be automatically scaled down and compressed before they are transmitted. So install this and browse cheap!

UPDATE2: With the little help of Mariusz from pdaclub.pl we have assembled a pretty neat solution for resizing images embedded at Klocki. You can now surf cheap no matter what browser do you use. Give it a try!

We will be happy to hear from you about the quality and your expectations towards the mobile version.

Red, again

I know that some of  you are waiting for next part of  ‘Hen’s teeth’. But I think if I  show something that took me three weeks to build, you will forgive me this delay.

For the last three weeks I was building a model of Iveco EuroTrakker 8×4. The effect of this build can be seen below:

Lego Iveco Eurotrakker 8x4

I tried to combine Model Team look with functionality of typical technic model. I think I succeeded, because the model is able to move on its own and lift the tipper thanks to pneumatic.

The following movie shows how the truck works:

Two highlanders and a bagpipe make a rebellion

Michael Jasper starts a new theme - musical instruments. We saw some of them in Michael’s recent recreation of “Some Like it hot”, but this one totally blew my mind. Bagpipes!

The Shovel of Doom

Curious about the title? Well, it’s the best name that comes to my mind when I see the sheer size and scale of the newest creation from the LUGPol user Zbiczasty:

Terex RH400

Terex RH400 Terex RH400 Terex RH400

This impressive monster is a stunningly accurate model of the world’s largest hydraulic excavator, the Terex RH400. It’s a fully functional model, fitted with drive and steering, with precisely recreated arm’s geometry, and even the mechanism that opens the forementioned shovel. It is powered by 4 motors and 14 pneumatic cylinders, and consists of over 4 kilograms of parts! In fact, no words can show its functionality and resemblance to the original machine better than this video does:

Takeshi Itou’s Town Bridge and City Hall

We had to wait a really long time to see new creation of Takeshi Itou (check out our previuos posts here and here).

City Bridge and Town Hall

Wonderful city hall built on top of the bridge and little medieval houses reminds us that the classic way of building is still fun.

Hellboy/Mignola/Misterzumbi

December, 23 1944. Nazi Ragnarok Project, headed by Grigori Jafimovich Rasputin, aims to free the seven demond of doom, Hitler’s last chance to gain superiority during the war time.
Someting went wrong. A child was brought to Earth.
Red-colored skin, tain, horns and powerful right hand. This is how Hellboy was born.

Hellboy by Dark Horse

Allies take in the child and after a few years it becomes an agent of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.

Mike Mignola, master of graphic novels created the “red boy” 1993, as protagonist in a short stories series. Hellboy was intended to be  a joke, a way for author to amuse himself. And he would probably dissapear in the crowd of comic characters if it not been for John Byrne who focused on his genesis, creating touching and beautiful story.

Since then, Hellboy took off.  There are several long and short graphic novels that mix the fantasy with horror, facts with myths and all that served with well-written scripts  and dark but great drawings.
Alan Moore said: „Hellboy is a passport to a corner of funnybook heaven you may never want to leave”

Hellboy

Mignola’s linework is specific. Dark, but with clear color boundaries, with importance of shadows. And a bit bulky. How would brick build Hellboy look like?

Misterzumbi has the answer:

Hellboy by Misterzumbi

Hellboy by Misterzumbi

Take a look at this bust, how many details of Hellboy’s face were transferred to the model. It looks like bricks are the best medium to recreate this character. Author didn’t even forget about the cigar! Dark background gives the model a nice touch, beeing a reference to comic books.
