Home Improvement Contest

Subject: build a device that helps at home; example: a bread cutter, a tea blender, an automatic hamster feeder etc.
Entries will be accepted: between September 29th and October 31st.
Prizes:
- 1st prize - 8292 Cherry Picker

- 2nd prize - 8291 Dirt Bike

- 3rd prize - 8296 Dune Buggy

All prizes are sponsored by the Lego company.
Rules:
- each entry should be supported by a video (preferably available at YouTube) showing the device functioning without any breaks for no less that 30 seconds. Exceptions are admissible for devices which are not supposed to work continuously, but for instance time by time;
- due to the Technic aspect of the contest, the virtual models will not be accepted; only the actually built devices are taken into consideration;
- the Mindstorms constructions fall within the same category with all other entries;
- the constructions should be built exclusively with the original, unmodified Lego pieces, except for strings, rubber bands and pneumatic hoses and flex tubes. It is also possible to use “interface tips”, that is a spoon or a knife, but such part should be attached to the device without gluing, cutting or modifying the Lego pieces in any way;
- October 31st opens up a judging phase, during which all submitted entries will be judged by four judges: Philo, Sariel and two official Lego Technic designers: Anders Gaasedal Christensen and Markus Kossman. Each of the judges will select up to 10 entries, and briefly describe the reasons for his choice;
- the entries will be given judged following three criterias: the idea, the functionality, and the design of the submitted device;
- on November 8th a public poll will be opened, listing the 10 entries with the highest total note from all the judges; the three final winners will be selected by the readers voting in the poll;
- the anticipated voting time: 1 week;
- any doubts concerning the submitted entries will be arbitrated by the judges by October 31st;
