Amazing Winter Street by Zgrredek

Chilly mornings in Poland reminds us that in few weeks we will welcome winter. Zgrredek tunes into the mood with his amazing winter diorama:

Custom stickers adds realism and the houses looks exactly like in late 19th century. There are few details I particularly like here: A dog running away with the turkey, three birds on the roof, snow swept around the tree and dark smoke coming out from the chimneys.

If you feel too cold from looking at this scene, warm up looking at another Zgrredek’s creation - “Fire!”. I missed that one the other day, now it is a good time to feature it:

Fire!

While looking at both creations it becomes visible what created Zgrredek’s disctinctive style: realistic 19th century setting, great architecture, dynamic brick-built animals, sense of humour and attention to detail. Zgrredek becomes on of my favorite builders.

PS. By the way, finally my blogging break is over.

Another giant minifig breaks away

Some of you may remember the mysterious giant minifig found on the Dutch beach in 2007. Recently, another one broke away! This time it’s green/red and was found on Brighton beach, UK:

Build your own 8259

Just a few days ago, we have published the first publicly announced 2009 Technic sets, one of them being a cute, tiny 8259 dozer. The set has instantly won the hearts of all the world’s builders, triggering a flood of reverse-engineered replicas. You can view one of the most accurate ones clicking on the photo below:

8259

AVCAmpos from the TechnicBRICKS staff went even a step further: he created an accurate MLCad model of the set, along with the precise building instructions:

8259

We are curious as to how the 8259 sales will be affected by the fans getting ahead of the company’s plans. Personally, we see no reason to abstain from buying the set just because we can build it ourselves - the dozer is way too cute, it almost begs to be put on a special place in our workshops as a 2009 Technic mascot :)

When science-fiction turns into reality…

I could’nt let pass the oportunity to pay an homage to the famous minifig that was born thirty years ago, so I decided to make this construction for the contest organized by The Brothers brick - Go Miniman Go.

This construction shows my fondness for the minifig, for LEGO and for the cinema wich I also like very much.

It is called Go Miniman Panic Go! and it fits in the 80’s category.

Give a blade to your Excavator

Erik Leppen, one of the best Technic builders around, has modified this year’s 8294 Excavator. Thanks to the instructions he has published, you too can transform your Excavator into a neat, functional bulldozer, that uses both linear actuators to elevate the blade and control it’s tilt. While this is not yet the 8275 set, we deeply admire Erik’s talent.

I did it again

Tanks. Big, blazing lethal machines, designed to wreak havoc and chaos. I know that, and I consider pacifism a nice thing, but there are eight tanks in my Brickshelf gallery. The latest can be called a crown jewel of this weakness, with the level of functionality that I cannot possibly imagine to surpass. Ladies and gentelmen, may I present the Abrams M1A2:[lang_p]Tanques. Senhoras e senhores, passo a apresentar o Abrams M1A2:

What’s inside this nearly 3-kilos heavy monster? Full independent suspension with shock absorbers and an unusual drivetrain, with a dual remote controlled 2-speed gearbox, controlled independently for left and right treads. Such an equipment makes it possible not only to easily traverse obstacles, but also to turn using different gears, with 10 possible combinations of speed. The hull houses a battery box mounting system that allows to remove the box in just a few moves, without dismantling anything. The turret is able of 360 degrees of revolution and houses a cannon that can be elevated with the linear actuator. The cannon is equipped with a recoil system, that retracts it rapidly, simulating a shot. The model comes with custom stickers and a set of lights (front and rear, plus internal lighting of the gearbox chamber), and you can see how it performs on this video:

There’s life in the tree

The 0937 Community member and also LEGO Ambassador, Tânia Baixinho (tbaixinho) has built this beatifull City Tree in micro scale. It’s called Living Tree and she says that this creation was inspired in the harmony between human being and nature. It’s also an entry for the Mini Classic Contest:

Let him go!

The portuguese 0937 Community member Rui Pinho  (rupi) presents us two fantastic entries for the Go Miniman Go contest. The first one fits in the 1990s category and it’s called Go Downhill Miniman Go:

The second one fits in the 1980s category and it’s called Go Fast Miniman Go:
